Typically, all climate research involves some form of data visualization, e.g., of model output. Traditionally, many visualization techniques are limited to two-dimensional representations. However, new and easily accessible visualization tools require little extra knowledge to explore data in three or four dimensions. The CyI Visualization Laboratory (VisLab) allows the use of novel technologies for the creation of content and transfer of information to engage audiences and improve the representation of scientific data. Content can be generated for use in 3D Stereoscopic Systems, Virtual Reality Technology, or immersive real-time 3D virtual environments for education and learning, Virtual representation of simulated data, 3D modelling and production of high quality digital animations. Several institutions are expanding their visualization tool set, e.g., UB and AMS.
