Because of climate change in recent years drought has become a major problem for many countries negatively affecting agriculture, water supplies, energy production, and various other aspects of society. ARMSTATEHYDROMET studies the connection of frequent occurring long drought periods in Armenia and anomalies of the atmospheric circulation. During last decades, the climate over Armenia has become warmer and drier, which led to more severe and frequent drought, especially in Ararat Valley (central part), Vayk and Syunik (southern regions), which are main agriculture regions of Armenia. ARMSTATEHYDROMET analyses the impact of climate change on the drought conditions.
