Computational simulation of DNA and RNA

The Institute of Molecular Biology “Roumen Tsanev”, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences studies the influence of thermodynamic properties of the DNA/DNA and RNA/DNA duplexes on the transcription and processing of RNA. High throughput calculations of thermodynamic stability of DNA/DNA and RNA/DNA duplexes of entire genomes of eukaryotic organisms and compared the stability with the rate of transcription and processing of RNA are performed. The calculation of thermodynamic stability of DNA/DNA and RNA/DNA duplexes of entire eukaryotic genomes requires High-Performance Computing and DATA infrastructures. The Molecular physics department of the Yerevan State University and Armenian-Indian Center of Excellence in ICT, plans to address computationally structure, thermodynamics and kinetics of RNA, involved in cancer cell growth. HPC facilities, Grid and Cloud computing as well as data storage facilities for the miRNA and other non-coding RNAs investigation will be used.
